The Piano Lessons App for iPhone collects no personal data and has its own app privacy policy.

What we collect

• Quiz answers (experience, goals, music taste, practice time). Used to build your plan.
• Your email address and first name, if you give them. Used to send your plan, account emails and, if you agree, lesson tips. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.
• Payment details are entered on the checkout page of Polar, our merchant of record and payment provider. We never see or store your full card number.
• Usage and device data: the pages you visit and what you click on this website, the quiz screens you see, the page and campaign that brought you here (including ad click identifiers), your IP address, approximate location (country, region and city from your IP address), browser, device type, screen size and language. We link these to a random visitor ID kept in a first-party cookie (plq_vid, up to 400 days) and a session cookie (plq_sid, 30 minutes), and to your email address once you give it. Advertising and analytics tags we may load through Google Tag Manager receive the same events, only with your consent where the law requires it.
• Practice data in the app, such as lessons completed. Microphone audio is processed on your device to detect notes and is not recorded or uploaded.

Plan reminders

When you save your plan with your email address, we email it to you. If you do not start a subscription, we may send up to two reminder emails about that plan within four days, never more than one in 16 hours and only during daytime in your country. We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest in helping you finish something you started. In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland we send only the plan itself unless you tick the box for reminders and tips. Every reminder has a one-click unsubscribe link, and once you use it we send no more reminders. Emails about a subscription you buy, such as the reminder before your trial ends, are not affected.

Why we use it (legal bases)

To provide the service you asked for (contract), to send reminders before charges (legal obligation and contract), to improve the product and measure advertising (legitimate interest or consent, depending on your country), and for marketing email (consent).

Who we share it with

Service providers who process data for us under contract: Vercel (website hosting), Hetzner in Germany (the server that stores visitor, quiz and subscription records), Polar (payments, as merchant of record), Amazon Web Services (email delivery through Amazon SES), and the analytics and advertising platforms we use. We do not sell your personal information.

Children

Accounts are created by adults. A parent or guardian can add a child profile on a family plan; we collect only a first name or nickname and progress data for that profile, and we do not show ads to child profiles.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, export or delete your data, object to processing, or withdraw consent at any time by emailing support@pianolessonsapp.com. California residents can exercise CCPA rights the same way. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Retention

We keep account data while your account is active and for up to 24 months after, unless the law requires longer (for example tax records of payments). Website visit records of people who never give an email address are kept for up to 24 months.
