Piano Lessons App privacy policy
Last updated October 18, 2026
This policy covers the Piano Lessons App for iPhone ("the app"). The website has its own privacy policy.
In short: no account, no sign-in, no server, no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party SDKs. Your progress is stored only on your device, and the microphone is optional and never records.
Who we are
The app is made by Dor Porat, an independent developer. Contact: poratdor@gmail.com.
What is stored, and where
Your learning progress stays in the app's own storage on your device: completed lessons, stars, your practice streak and your settings. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else. If your device is backed up to iCloud, Apple's backup may include this data, like any app's data, according to your settings. Deleting the app deletes it, and Settings has a button to reset your progress.
Microphone (optional)
The microphone is used only if you turn on "Listen to my piano". While it is on, the app analyses the sound on your device in real time to detect which note you play. Audio is never recorded, never stored and never sent anywhere. You can turn the permission off at any time in iOS Settings, Privacy & Security, Microphone. The app works fully without it, using the on-screen keyboard.
MIDI keyboards
If you connect a USB or Bluetooth MIDI keyboard, the app reads the notes you play on it to check your playing. Bluetooth is used only to pair the keyboard. The notes are processed on your device and nothing leaves it.
Purchases
Subscriptions are bought and restored through the App Store, which Apple handles (StoreKit). We never receive your name, card or other payment details. Links you tap (these pages, Apple's license agreement) open in your browser.
What is not collected
- No name, email, phone number or other identifier.
- No audio recordings of any kind.
- No advertising identifier and no cross-app tracking.
- No analytics, no third-party SDKs and no third-party crash reporting.
- No location, contacts or photos.
Children
The app collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
