Common questions

The microphone does not detect my notes

Practise in a quiet room and place your phone or iPad near the piano. Take headphones off, since the app needs to hear the piano. Play one note at a time while you learn, and give each note a clear, firm press. If your piano is out of tune, notes may be heard as the wrong pitch; tuning it helps. Check that the microphone is allowed in iOS Settings, Privacy & Security, Microphone.

Connecting a MIDI keyboard

USB: connect the keyboard to your device with a suitable adapter (USB-C, or Lightning to USB Camera Adapter) and it is detected automatically. Bluetooth: turn the keyboard's Bluetooth on, then open the in-app pairing screen and tap your keyboard to connect it. Bluetooth MIDI keyboards are paired from inside the app, not from iOS Bluetooth settings.

Restoring purchases

On a new device, or after reinstalling, tap Restore purchases on the purchase screen or in Settings, using the same Apple ID you subscribed with.

Cancelling a subscription

iPhone Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Piano Lessons App. Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to avoid the next charge. If you are in the free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends and you will not be charged.

Resetting progress

Open Settings in the app and choose Reset progress. This erases your lessons, stars and streak on this device and cannot be undone. Your subscription is not affected.

Without a piano

Every lesson and song works on the on-screen keyboard, no microphone or MIDI keyboard needed.
